Why April 6th, 32 AD is the Most Important Day for Mankind
Why this One Prophecy from the Great Prophet Daniel unlocks the identity of the Messiah!
And Abraham said, “My son,
God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering.
So the two of them went together.” Genesis 22:8
Robert Rite (04/15/2017): As we celebrate Holy week, many are finding it harder to feel the peace that resurrection week brings; especially with the drumbeats and rumors of war, saber rattling by Russia, Iran, North Korea et al, and the escalating persecution and murders of Christians throughout the world. And BTW, North Korea just tested another ballistic missile today. There I go again, putting on my end time prophecy hat, when the message I share today is MUCH more important than all of that!
So let’s begin by exploring some key ancient Prophecies that identify Jesus Christ as the Messiah king:
The 70 week Prophecy
I like to call this prophecy in the book of Daniel as the GREAT Prophecy that places the Messiah right at the scene of the most unholy of Crimes in this age; Making Jesus Guilty as charged….
“The King of the Jews!”
In Dan. 9:21-23 God’s chief messenger Angel, Gabriel is about to give Daniel one of the most important prophecies for mankind. Let’s read the prophecy:
“Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the command to restore and build Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince, there shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublesome times. And after the sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself;” Dan. 9:25-26a
The key to unlocking this prophecy is to understand that the 70 weeks referred to here are weeks of years whereby each day is a year. Understanding this, we then take the 70 weeks and break it down in the following three steps:
Step 1) 70 weeks consists of 490 days (of years).
Step 2) the 490 days are 490 years.
Step 3) the prophecy is divided in two.
a) The first part is 483 years (the first 69 weeks)
b) The last part is 7 years (the last week) which is the last seven years of this age; also referred to as the apocalypse.
Daniel 9:26 reveals that after the 483 years the Messiah is cutoff (crucified). So another key is to know when the 483 years begin. Once we know that we can determine to the day, when the Messiah was crucified, and just as important – who He is!
The bible record backed by history makes this easy as we continue below:
Step 4) the seventy week prophecy begins with the command of King Artaxerxes to restore and rebuild Jerusalem (Neh. 2:1; Da. 9:25). This occurred in 445 BC.
Step 5) understand that a Hebrew year is 360 days, and all prophecies are based on the 360 day Hebraic calendar.
Step 6) 483 years (step 3 above) at 360 day years results in 173,880 days.
Step 7) when we add 173,880 days to 445 BC, we arrive at:
Palm Sunday – circa April 6th, 32 AD!
This is probably the most important prophecy in the bible concerning Messiah, because it places Jesus Christ smack at the entrance of the Eastern Gate (called the GOLDEN Gate – which is now sealed awaiting Messiah’s return) making his triumphant entrance into Jerusalem at the exact time that Gabriel revealed to Daniel that the anointed one – Messiah would enter the Holy City Jerusalem (read Daniel 9:25-26)!
So April 6th, 32 AD is the day that Jesus Christ appeared in Jerusalem riding on a donkey – Palm Sunday (John 12:14-15; Zech. 9:9)! April 6th, 32 AD was also the moment when Jesus was anointed as the most high; just 4 days before He would be cutoff as foretold in Daniel 9:26.
In that day a great multitude had gathered as Jesus made His triumphant entrance into the holy city, Jerusalem. The multitude were waving palm branches and shouting: “Hosanna to the Son of David; Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest!” (Matthew 21:9)
The crowd was confirming Jesus Christ as their Messiah; unknowingly fulfilling the anointing of the most high as foretold in Daniel 9:24!
Let’s review a few additional Old Testament prophecies that identify Messiah by virtue of events that He would fulfill:
1) Isaiah 53: 2-3 “…There is no beauty that we should desire Him. He is despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him;
He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.”
Note: Jesus was rejected in His time; and many still mock, despise and reject His Holy Name today.
2) Is. 53: 4-5 “Surely He has borne our grief and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.”
3) Is. 53:5 “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.
Note: The Roman centurions afflicted Jesus with 39 stripes (lashes) before He was crucified.
4) Is. 53:6 “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, every one, to his own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
NOTE: Jesus came primarily to lay down His life for the redemption of sin. He became the Passover Lamb that takes away the sins of the world. Interesting that after His death the temple would be destroyed negating any future animal sacrifices for the forgiveness of sins. The Jews did not understand that the Messiah became the last sin offering!
5) Is. 53:7 “He was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so He opened not His mouth.
NOTE: Jesus remained quiet even while being encouraged to defend Himself before Pilot.
6) Is. 53:9 “And they made His grave with the wicked—But with the rich at His death, because He had done no violence….”
NOTE: Jesus was crucified among two sinners; and was buried in a rich man’s tomb (Joseph of Arimathea). Yet Pilot confessed to the crowd “I find no fault in Him at all.”
7) Psalm 22:18 – “They divide My garments among them, And for My clothing they cast lots.”
NOTE: – We read in Mark 15:24: “And when they crucified Him, they divided His garments, casting lots for them to determine what every man should take.”
8) Zechariah 11:3 – “And the Lord said to me, “Throw it to the potter”—that princely price they set on me. So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them into the house of the Lord for the potter.”
NOTE: This was fulfilled when Jesus was betrayed by Judas for 30 pieces of silver! (read Matthew 27:3)
Do we really need any More Proof?
The Curse that was and that is to come to All who Reject He Who is, Who Was, and Who is to Come – the Holy One of Israel
Despite all these proofs and many more throughout this age, many still doubt that Jesus Christ is the King of Heaven, the son of the Living God, the Word of the Most Holy.
The following curse was bestowed against Israel at the time of Jesus, and also applies to the world today.
If the Jews were cast out of the promised land even without the benefit of the full Gospel, how much more shall we (the world of today) be subjected to a coming curse since most have rejected the Messiah even after the benefit of the New Testament Gospels and all the end time prophecies that have been fulfilled these 2,000 years after Jesus resurrection?
When Jesus looked over Jerusalem, just before his crucifixion, he cried over the city and lamented over the following curse:
“Now as He drew near, He saw the city and wept over it, saying, “If you had known, even you, especially in this your day, the things that make for peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. For days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment around you, surround you and close you in on every side, and level you, and your children within you, to the ground; and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not recognize the day of your visitation.” Luke 19:41-44
Within 40 years of Jesus uttering those words, Jerusalem would lie in rubble and the Jews would be dispersed throughout the gentile nations.
Before we judge, the Jews as a people had not fully benefited from the gospel teachings and the written Word. So how much more of a curse awaits those who have benefited from the written word and a myriad of prophecies that have all been fulfilled to date! These have no excuse for Doubting that Jesus Christ is the Messiah!
If Jesus were here looking down at this world today, He would utter the same words except this time it would apply to ALL the kingdoms of this fallen world! Soon all the world will know WHO is the LORD!
But for those of us who know the Lord, we can indeed find peace even in the times that we live in today. This is also a reason why so many millions throughout the world today are willing to lose life and limb to proclaim that JESUS CHRIST is their Lord and Savior.
He is RISEN!
Let us proclaim today the following:
“Jesus Christ is my PASSOVER Lamb; the Lamb of God that Takes Away the Sins of the World! Just as the Jews sprinkled the Blood of the Lamb on the doorposts to keep out the angel of death on that first Passover celebration, we the Bride of Christ sprinkle the Blood of Jesus on our hearts to keep out the forces of darkness! Amen!”
On April 6th 32 AD Jesus entered the Holy City knowing that it would be His final week on earth. He knew He was about to sacrifice Himself as the Passover Lamb that takes away the sins of the world. The same generation that witnessed His death would also witness the destruction of Jerusalem and the Hebrew temple.
But since most of them did not recognize the day of His visitation, they did not understand that the temple sacrifice would no longer be required; hence no need for a temple! Jesus was the substitute Lamb; the Lamb that God told Abraham that He would provide as a substitute for the life of Abraham’s son Isaac (read Genesis 22:8). The Lamb of God negated any future animal sacrifices for the forgiveness of sin. The Jews did not understand that the Messiah became the final sin offering. But by His grace, we the bride, the body of Christ know the greatest of truths, that…
Indeed, God Provided the Lamb!
