The spoken word is very powerful; and no spoken word is more powerful than the word of Almighty God. When we commit bible passages to memory, and recite them out loud, it becomes a powerful tool that we can use at will against the perils of life and the attacks of the enemy.

It is sad to witness as we watch the evening news how so many people suffer tragedies; and sometimes they are needless. Many people blame themselves, society or other people for their misfortunes, not aware that many times the culprit is the unseen enemy; Satan and his army of demons and principalities. And many have already lost the fight against these evil supernatural forces because they fail to even recognize their power and influence on their lives and the lives of their loved ones. Many do not even believe in the devil because he is invisible and his attacks are all done covertly – designed to deceive the vulnerable.

For those who doubt that evil malevolent supernatural forces exist; a look at the morning paper or the evening and world news, should make this succinctly clear. The reason for so much chaos in the world and the lives of many is that evil forces can and do influence the minds of men and world leaders. But since the enemy is so incredibly cunning, many people do not even recognize when their thoughts and or actions are being manipulated and influenced by the devil and his demons.

So I wanted to share with you just a few powerful affirmations based on bible scriptures and verses that you can use to fight off and thwart the attacks of the enemy over your mind and life; in relation to both the spiritual and physical realm. So let’s begin. Below are affirmations that you should recite out loud; and also please read the associated passages:

1) “I can overcome the enemy by the blood of Jesus Christ and by His word” (read Revelation 12:11)

2) “Because I believe in the power of the name of Jesus I can cast out demons and take up serpents; and they cannot hurt me. I will also lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” (Read Mark 16:15-18)

3) God has given me power over evil spirits and I have been anointed to heal the sick in His name” (read Mark 6:7, 13; Matthew 10:1, 6-8)

4) “My Lord is an awesome God. In His glorious power God has defeated my enemies; He contends with and overthrows those who seek to harm me. The Lord is my rear guard.” (Read Exodus 15:3, 6; Is. 52:12; Isaiah 49:25; 2 Thessalonians 1:6)

5) “Plead my cause, O Lord, with those who strive with me; fight against those who fight against me. Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for my help. Also draw out the spear, and stop those who pursue me. Say to my soul, “I am your salvation.” (Psalm 35:1 – unedited)

6) “Lord, thank you for guarding my feet. When I walk through the fire, I shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch me. When I cry out, You hear me and deliver me from all my troubles.” (Read Psalm 34:17; Isaiah 43:2; 1 Samuel 2:9;

7) “I do not fear the enemy because my Lord God fights my battles for me. He gives His angels charge over me and keeps me safe in all my ways.” (Read Deuteronomy 3:21; Psalm 91:11; Psalm 35:5-8)

8) “No weapon formed against me shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against me in judgment I shall condemn; for this is the heritage of the servants of the Lord.” (Read Isaiah 54:17)

9) “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, because the Lord is my strength and my shield. The Lord has given me the keys of the kingdom of heaven, so that whatever I bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever I loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” (Read Philippians 4:13; Psalm 28:7; Matthew 16:19)

10) “The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from all my enemies.” (Psalm 18:2)

The key is to have or develop faith, and memorize some of these passages to heart. You want to be able to recite at least some of these verses at will, especially when the enemy is trying to tempt or torment you.

God has already delivered us from the attacks of the enemy – the victory is already ours for the asking! We read this in Colossians 1:13 “He has delivered us from the power of darkness and translated us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.”

In closing, remember that it is never too late to turn the tables on the enemy and get back the years of peace and joy that he has robbed you of. The Lord promises this in Joel 2:25 “I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten… “
