Robert Rite (01/25/2015): Many people are not aware that the ancient scriptures unveil many of the prophecies of the end of days. Bible codes (also referred to as the Torah codes) are defined as a set of encrypted messages or prophecies that are encoded within the Hebrew Text of the Torah. But these are not the codes that I am referring to in this study. The codes that I will be referring to are the hidden messages behind some of the stories and writings of the Old Testament scriptures in the Exodus account.
We do not need a sophisticated computer to uncover hidden bible codes and messages. Our mind is far superior in reasoning then any computer that mankind can create.
So let’s review the plagues of Egypt in the book of Exodus to see if they reveal clues about the types of judgments that will occur during the apocalypse.
The Plagues of Egypt
Let’s go over some history first to set the stage. Jacob, the grandson of Abraham had twelve sons; one of them being Joseph. Joseph was favored by Jacob, being that he was the son of his old age. As a young man Joseph was sold as a slave to Egypt, by his jealous brothers (Genesis 37:28).
Through God’s blessings Joseph eventually became second in command under Pharaoh of Egypt, and was able to save many lives during a great seven year famine throughout the whole Middle East and North African area.
After Joseph’s death, another Egyptian king would come to power who did not know Joseph. This Pharaoh who also feared the size of the Hebrew population, which had grown larger than the Egyptian population over the past 400 years, subjected them to harsh slavery and bondage. So God heard the cries of the people and He remembered His covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. So God decided to do something about it. As we will discuss in another chapter God would choose Moses to free the captives out of Egyptian slavery.
Below I list several of the plagues of Egypt followed by passages in the book of Revelation which is the last book of the bible which prophesizes about the apocalypse at the time of the end of this age. As you will see there are many similarities. Let’s begin…
The Plague of Water turning to Blood
In Exodus 7:20-21 – the waters of the river were turned to blood; killing all the fish in the area.
In Revelation 16:3-4 – the second angel pours out his judgment bowl on the sea, and it became blood, and every fish also dies.
The Plague of Boils
In Exodus 9:8-12 – the Egyptians were plagued with boils that broke out as sores.
In Revelation 16:2 – when the first angel pours out his bowl judgment a loathsome sore will afflict all who take the mark of the beast (the anti-Christ) and those who worshipped his image.
The Plague of Hail
In Exodus 9:23-26 – the lord rained hail and fire mingled with hail on the land of Egypt. These were heavy stones of hail that they broke all the trees of the field.
In Revelation 8:7 – The first angel sounded and hail mixed with fire fell upon the earth; and a third of the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up.
Note: As you can see so far, the apocalypse judgments will be exponentially more devastating than the plagues of Egypt since these judgments will be affecting the entire earth. In the hail judgments of the apocalypse – one third of all trees and green grass are burned up. However the type of judgment in this case is also exactly the same as what occurred in the land of Egypt.
The Plague of Locusts
In Exodus 10:13-15 – Moses brought forth a plague of locusts which devoured much of the vegetation.
In Revelation 9:3 – the smoke from locusts will come upon the earth.
The Plague of Darkness
In Exodus 10:22-23 – Moses stretched out his hand toward heaven, and there was thick darkness in all the land of Egypt for three days.
In Revelation 16:10 – the fifth angel poured out his bowl and the beast’s kingdom became full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues because of the pain.
The Plague of Death
In Exodus 12:29-30 – the Lord struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh to the firstborn of all the Egyptians; there was not a house where there was not one dead.
In Revelation 9:18 – In just three plagues, a third of mankind was killed.
Just like many died in the final plague on Egypt, many more will die during the apocalypse. Revelation 9:18 indicates that 1/3rd of mankind will perish from just three of the plagues.
In Exodus there are numerous accounts of Pharaoh’s heart being hardened so that he refuses to repent from not allowing the Jewish people to go and serve God.
In Revelation 16:9 we also see that despite a series of judgments throughout the earth, the inhabitants of the earth will refuse to repent and in fact will blame and curse God for their afflictions.
Just like the famine in the land of Egypt (during the reign of Joseph) lasted seven years, the tribulation period (apocalypse) at the time of the end will also last seven years.
The Messages behind the Exodus from Egypt
We can also unlock the following lessons from the Exodus account:
– No matter how much the Lord reaches out to mankind to repent and be set free from the bondage of sin, Satan just like Pharaoh will not easily loosen his grasp on the souls of all those who are under the bondage of sin.
– Despite all that the Israelites did for Egypt during their captivity there, such as building up their cities and saving Egypt from a seven year famine, in the long run they were persecuted by Pharaoh; just like the Jews have been persecuted all throughout history.
– Just like God rescued the Hebrews out of bondage from slavery in Egypt, God will once again intervene during the apocalypse to destroy those who try to destroy His people and His Land. We can read this in Ezekiel 38:14-23.
As the bible clearly reveals and history clearly confirms, there is no doubt that history repeats itself. Just like Hitler and the Nazi party mixed catholic beliefs with the occult, it is believed that the coming Antichrist will do the exact same thing. The Germans all but worshipped Hitler, just like the world will worship the anti-Christ at the time if the end (Rev. 13:8)
Just like the ten plagues of Egypt, the judgments of the coming apocalypse are not designed to punish as much as they are individual opportunities for repentance.
It is not difficult to unlock many other hidden messages within the word. God can open your eyes and mind so that you can discover God’s special messages hidden throughout His word, just for you. As His children God wants to communicate to each one of us, and has a special message or messages hidden in His word just for you and me.
Whether we choose to believe in Him or not, God has stored in each of our minds special messages for us to unlock and share with others. We were all created with our own unique set of messages and prophecies to uncover and then to share with our fellow man. No one else can share that message better than you can. It is our choice to unlock them or not!
So in closing, we have reviewed just one example of how end time prophecies are concealed in t
he ancient apocalypse codes; in this case in the Old Testament book of Exodus.
As you can see the similarities of the plagues of Egypt in the book of Exodus, are shockingly similar to the prophesied plagues of the coming apocalypse (book of Revelation). God being true to His word has revealed to us that just like in the beginning, so will it be at time of the end. Just as it was in the times of Noah, so it will be at the time of the end (Matt 24:37)
