Robert Rite (10/20/2015): Let’s begin and set the stage by explaining some of the terms associated with 666. The number 666 is assigned to a man who will rule the world at the time of the end.
He is referred to as the antichrist, man of perdition and also the beast. The end time empire that he will control and that will rule the earth is referred to as the beast kingdom. The beast kingdom will be comprised of ten nations. The mark on the forehead or hand that will be enforced is referred to as the 666, and also “mark of the beast”.
When you look at the deteriorating condition of the world today, it doesn’t take much to imagine conditions getting to a point where people will cry out for a leader who can bring order out of chaos. Whether the final straw is another global economic collapse, or world war – the bible clearly reveals that the solution the world will eventually choose is a united global government.
What the Prophecies reveal about the Antichrist’s Personality
The scriptures reveal that the antichrist will be a charismatic leader who promises to restore peace and safety and demonstrates miraculous power. Many will marvel at his power and ability to even perform miracles. Once he emerges on the world scene he will quickly be given the reins of world government. He will be adored and worshipped by many. This lawless one may already be just awaiting his cue.
Personality of the Antichrist throughout the Bible, we are granted insight into the personality and disposition of the Antichrist. We are told how he will act, what he will do, and where he will get his power. Let’s review some of them.
He will be very arrogant: Like his Lucifer the antichrist will be so filled with self-love and arrogance that he will launch a rebellion against God Almighty (Daniel 7:8, 11:36).
He will obtain his power and authority from Satan. The Bible clearly states that the Antichrist will derive his power from Satan. In fact, following the Devil’s banishment from heaven (Revelation 12:9, 13:2), he will indwell the Antichrist, making this man of lawlessness the literal embodiment of Satan.
He will perform miracles: He will be empowered (by Satan) to create miracles (Dan. 8:24).
Lust for Power – The Antichrist will be consumed with power, and power alone will he worship (Daniel 11:37-38). His power will be so great that the people of the world will marvel in wonder and worship it, asking the rhetorical question of who among them is able to fight against his mighty kingdom.
He will proclaim himself as god: He will place himself above all others, and even set himself up in the Jewish Temple, proclaiming to be God (Dan. 11).
Antichrists arrival onto the World Scene
In addition to various aspects of his character, the Bible provides us with some details about the career of this man of lawlessness.
He Arises out of the Beast Kingdom: In Daniel 7:7-8 and Revelation 17 we learn that the antichrist arises out of the beast kingdom which is comprised of ten nations.
He makes a 7 year treaty with Israel: The Antichrist will make a treaty with the people of Israel for a period of seven years (Daniel 9:27). Of course this too will prove to be another false peace treaty just like all the other peace accords since Israel was reborn as a nation in 1948.
He Destroys All Religions But His Own:
Rev. Chapter 13 reveals that once the antichrist arrives on the scene he will quickly appoint a false prophet who will establish a one world religion. This religion at first may encompass several religions in an attempt to appease as many religious leaders as possible and to attract mass appeal.
Then, once he has everybody sucked into this religious order, the antichrist (who by this point will be the one world leader) will proclaim that he is God, and he will require all to worship only him, and those who refuse will be persecuted and martyred.
He Wages War against the Saints: God’s chosen believers, who are written in the “Book of Life”, will refuse to take the mark of the beast. Thus the antichrist will initiate a worldwide campaign to destroy all Christians, Jews and anyone else who refuse the mark and to worship him (Revelation 13:7)
He causes the Battle of Armageddon: In what may be the final battle of this age, the antichrist will assemble his armies in a place called Armageddon, the modern day city of Megiddo, Israel.
His Ultimate Destruction: Despite the terror that he inflicts upon mankind, the reign of the Antichrist will be relatively brief; seven years max – and he will meet his match at the Battle of Armageddon!
He will Deceive Many
Instead of repenting and worshipping God, the unbelievers and the lost will embrace everything Satan and that is why John in Revelation who is observing this corrupted end time kingdom refers to it as a beast, and the inhabitants of the earth who worship the beast figuratively as beasts as well. This is exactly what the book of Revelation reveals. These will all be blotted out of the “Book of Life” (they are sentenced to eternal damnation), because they choose to worship Satan and curse the God of
heaven (read Revelation: 13:8, 16:9 and 16:11).
Many will take the mark of the beast (666), because they will be deluded into thinking that this will offer them protection and security. Void of the truth, they are unaware that they will open themselves up to the full wrath and judgment of God reserved for all those who take the mark of the beast (Rev. 16).
In Revelation chapter 14 God makes it pretty clear that those who take the mark of the beast will be judged just like if they were Satan himself! Perhaps when they take the mark they immediate inherit the DNA of Satan?
They will be unable to repent, as they will have no conscience – unable to feel remorse, to love or repent! This is why they are written out of the book of life and cast into the lake of fire Rev. 20:15
So who is the 666?
Many throughout this age have tried to identify the antichrist, and all have failed since he has not appeared on scene yet. The number 666 itself offers the biggest clue. The 666 identifies the antichrist, but note that the number 6 is representative of the number of man; man was created on the sixth day. Note that the number 666 is the absolute opposite of 777 which is the kingdom of God, which includes all the saints in their totality (the body of Christ)!
So the number 666 may be referring to the totality of fallen man; meaning all who take the mark of the beast during the apocalypse; the tribulation period of seven years (Rev. 13:16)! Once they take the mark they will be imparted with the spirit of antichrist and will in turn also become a beast, or a part of the beast – the 666!
Once they take the mark, and make that covenant with the devil these lost souls will effectively become part of the beast and this is why it will be impossible for such inhabitants to ever repent or be forgiven. Once they take that mark, it is as if they instantly inherit the DNA of the devil – so that it will be inherently impossible for these individuals to repent, to feel remorse or retain their conscience.
So many folks throughout this age have been trying to unlock the mystery of 666, and all this time the answer may have been inside of every man who chooses to reject the sovereign God and instead align themselves with the prince of this world (Satan).
So, in the last days, the 666 will most definitely apply to the many millions – perhaps billions who choose to side with and worship Satan by taking his mark; the “mark of the beast”.
At the close of this age, the bible makes it clear that the antichrist, false prophet, Satan and all who take his mark will be cast down to the lake of fire. So why side with the losing side – choose life!
